This month's newsletter includes information about joining student council, online and on-campus college counseling events, community service opportunities, and information session dates.
OCO Student Council
All full-time students interested in student council this year have until THIS FRIDAY, September 9th to submit their biographies and photos to the student council adviser, Mrs. Lindsey. In addition, there is a requirement that a faculty or staff member submit a paragraph of recommendation as well.
College Counseling Live Sessions: Mondays at 1:30pm PST
Monday, September 12th: "Starting Strong." Get ideas for making this and every school year with OCO successful. Hear ideas from upperclassman as to how to make the most of what OCO has to offer.
Monday, September 26th: "What Colleges are Looking For." Learn what colleges focus on in their review of the applications they receive. This will be helpful for seniors as they are going through the process this year and for students 9th-11th grades to improve their transcripts and resumes.
Tuesday, September 13th, Let's Talk College 6:00-7:00pm PST, in the College Counseling Virtual Classroom: This program is for parents and students and will provide information about the changes in financial aid as well as sources for scholarship searches.
Tuesday, September 27th 6:00-8:00pm, Oaks Christian Main Campus, The National Christian College Fair: Come and meet with the west coast reps from over 40 Christian Colleges from all over the country. This event is open to everyone and is free.
Looking ahead: PSAT testing for 9th through 11th grade students is Wednesday, October 19th on the Oaks Christian Main Campus. Testing starts at 8:30am and will be completed by 12:00pm.
On-campus and Online Information Sessions
All students and families interested in attending OCO for either a single course, or full-time enrollment, should attend an online information session.Admissions Director, Brittany Lindsey, will cover topics such as: college counseling, spiritual life, admissions information, and a day in the life for an online student. Upcoming sessions will be on Tuesdays, September 13th, October 4th and 18th at 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. PST.
There will also be an on-campus information session for all local families on Saturday, November 12th. This is a great opportunity to meet some of our faculty and staff in person, and have a tour of our online school office and learning center.
