College counseling program
Full-time OCO students have access to a complete College Counseling program. This includes individual meetings with and access to qualified counseling professionals, guidance and educational activities for both students and parents.
STARTING STRONG (9TH GRADE)
This session introduces 9th grade students and parents to strategies and resources available to help students be successful in their high school career.
LET’S TALK COLLEGE (10TH GRADE)
This program for students and parents feature a nationally renowned speaker who helps participants understand the college admissions process and how to set priorities for success.
COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE NIGHT (11TH GRADE)
Juniors and their parents will enjoy wide ranging topics about college admissions from professionals from a wide range of colleges and universities.
CASE STUDIES (11TH GRADE)
Participants will review actual college applications submitted for admission and act as an admissions committee to determine which of the applicants will be admitted, denied or wait-listed.
THE STRESS OF THE SENIOR YEAR (12TH GRADE)
This session will help students and parents understand what stressors students face their final year of high school and how to develop strategies to be successful.
AVOIDING SENIORITIS (12th GRADE)
It is not uncommon for seniors to “hit the wall’ midway through their senior year. This session helps students and parents look for warning signs and create approaches to avoid derailing their success.
Full-time students have the opportunity to tour local colleges throughout the school year. These sessions are open to full-time students in all grade levels.
VIRTUAL COLLEGE VISITS
Throughout the school year students meet with college admissions professionals in sessions held in the College Counseling Virtual Classroom. These sessions are open to full-time students in all grade levels.
9th -11th grade students have an opportunity to take pre-SAT and pre-ACT tests. This testing enables students to practice and helps identify which testing format is best for them. These tests take place during the fall semester.
